Sheldonian Theatre
Friday 16 January 2009, 8pm
Originating from the masked balls
of Henry VI, this form of extravagant
royal entertainment is rarely heard in
performances today. These musical sketches
are colourful and dramatic, featuring
weighty portrayals of virtue, peace, heaven
and earth alongside slapstick caricature
moments of dancing bears, drunken brawls
and feuding sisters.
With a musical band of viols, lutes, harp and
a line up of top-flight soloists, this is proper
old-fashioned entertainment.
Tickets £40, £26, £18, £10
Free Pre-Concert Talk/Discussion for all ticket
holders at 7pm: Elizabeth Kenny - Lute and Director
