See All Concerts > Mae Heydorn & Sholto Kynoch

Friday 8 February 2013 | 7.30pm
Holywell Music Room

Mae Heydorn mezzo soprano
Sholto Kynoch piano

Mahler Rückert Lieder, songs by Dvorak and Ture Rangström.

Mae is a rising star in recital and opera, appearing with Glyndebourne Festival Opera amongst others. Her last recital for Music at Oxford with Sholto Kynoch, director and lynchpin of the Oxford Lieder Festival, was a true stand-out occasion. Her magnificent warm mezzo voice is perfect for the romantic repertoire which is the centrepiece of this recital. Her programmes regularly include gems from the Scandinavian repertoire (she is Swedish) of which we know sadly little here. This occasion is no exception, with the addition of songs by Dvorak and the centrepiece of the programme, Mahler’s intense, meditative Rückert Lieder.
