Music at Oxford Venue Information
The Sheldonian Theatre
Broad Street, Oxford, OX1 3AZ
Built in 1664-8 to a design by Sir Christopher Wren, the Sheldonian's main purpose is to provide a venue for the principle ceremonies of the University. Its links to Oxford's illustrious musical history can be traced back to performances in 1733 by Handel, and today it is the city's main venue for large classical music concerts.
Despite the somewhat sparse facilities and basic seating arrangements, many audience members (and musicians) argue that there are few venues to rival it in terms of atmosphere and acoustic.

Christ Church Cathedral

Restored in 1959-60, it is an ideal location for intimate chamber music events.
