90 Years of Arvo Pärt: 24 Preludes for a Fugue
Watch an acclaimed 2002 documentary about Arvo Pärt and his life and music. The film explores the inner life and musical thoughts of Pärt through 24 little chapters.
The film is directed by the late Dorian Supin, Pärt’s brother in law, and this film is his second in a series of three that he made about Pärt and his family. Supin and Pärt shared a close relationship and according to the Arvo Pärt centre, Pärt said of Supin: “Dorian was the most delicate director I know; he was a pleasure to work with. I have always found it easy to watch his films, they don’t weigh me down afterwards.”
The film screening will be followed by Arvo Pärt: A Personal view which will see Pärt’s son Michael in conversation with David James from the Hilliard Ensemble.
