Brighouse and Rastrick Band

We welcome one of the UK’s finest brass bands to Oxford for an afternoon that will keep everyone from brass band newbies to connoisseurs entertained.

This multi-award winning band first caught the imagination of the British public in 1977 with their recording of The Floral Dance, holding the No. 2 position in the British singles chart for nine weeks, and only being held off the top spot by a certain Paul McCartney.

More recently the band has worked with the likes of Kate Rusby, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner The Unthanks, and classical actor Simon Callow.

The Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band is a British brass band formed in 1881. The band is based in Brighouse, in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. The band is known across the world, and is regarded by many as the best and most consistent “public subscription band” in the world. They were the 2022 British Open champions and Brass in Concert winners, and are the current Saddleworth Whit Friday champions. In 2022 they were voted the 4Barsrest Band of the Year. The band are regarded as one of the finest brass bands in history, and are in high demand across the globe.
