Arvo Pärt wins Polar Music Prize

We were thrilled to see that Arvo Pärt was one of this year’s recipients of the prestigious and renowned Polar Music Prize.

Sometimes referred to as the ‘Nobel Prize of Music’, the Polar Music Prize is regarded as Sweden’s foremost musical honour.  It was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, the late manager of Swedish supergroup ABBA, with a donation to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

The prize is awarded for ‘significant achievements in music and/or musical activity, or for achievements which are found to be of great potential importance for music or musical activity’.
