New autumn season on sale, featuring Pärt at 90
Our Autumn-Winter season of events has just gone on sale, a major feature of which is a festival celebrating the music of composer Arvo Pärt, a composer whose work connects with today’s audiences like few others.
90 Years of Arvo Pärt: A Reflection starts on 11 November, and follows on from the huge success of our last festival of Pärt’s music back in 2022. Highlights of the festival include:
- A performance of his Berliner Messe with Britten Sinfonia and Merton College Choir
- An evening of conversation and music featuring Arvo Pärt’s son, Michael
- The Carice Singers with a programme featuring music by Thomas Tallis and Arvo Pärt
- A rare UK appearance by the Estonian Choir Vox Clamantis in the surrounds of Christ Church Cathedral
Alongside the Festival we welcome in a huge variety of performers and musical styles, from cutting edge contemporary music to unexpected musical encounters, as well as paying host to some seasonal favourites too. Other highlights of the autumn/winter season include:
- The world première of a new multimedia work by Kenneth Hesketh
- Mozart’s C Minor Mass with La Nuova Musica
- A live performance of Roopa Panesar’s album ATMA, bringing the worlds of Indian Classical and Jazz together
- Our traditional Christmas events at Christ Church Cathedral
