Our first community workshop
Our Learning and Participation Manager has created Music at Oxford’s first meditation workshop which is open to everyone. On the 4 May, before the Tashi Lhunpo Monks perform at the Oxford Town Hall, you can join violinist and workshop leader Inês Delgado for an immersive Music Meditation session.
The famous 19th century American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said that “music is the universal language of mankind”. The workshop will encourage participants to reflect on and discuss how music is a universal language that breaks down barriers and has a unique power to build compassion and connection. We will then explore Music Meditation practices guided by Inês and her violin.
As we want to ensure our events are open to everyone, we are trialling a new payment scheme for this event where three levels of pricing exist. The top level – Pay More – is aimed at those who can afford to pay a little more to help cover the cost of a ticket for someone who cannot afford to come without assistance. The second level is a mid-level price – Standard payment– which covers the cost of a single ticket and the last level – Pay Less – is for those who cannot afford to pay the top or mid-level prices. If you would like to attend, please do consider whether you can afford to help cover the cost of someone else’s ticket, you could make a huge difference to them, and us, helping to ensure we can continue to bring other workshops like this one to our Oxford communities.

Further meditation resources
If you’re interested in the workshop or exploring meditation practices, you might find Inês’ meditation video and her Instrumental Music Meditation Playlist on Spotify helpful. The playlist includes her favourite tracks for meditation, walking and journaling. If you’re in need of some relaxation, do give it a try. Inês is also on a meditation app so if you have access to Insight Timer, you may like to take a look.
