Oxford Lieder Festival 2020

The Oxford Lieder Festival is a fantastic local festival that celebrates the world of song and this year, it’s going online! From 10th to 17th October, they will be live-streaming a multitude of different and exciting events from some of the best venues in Oxford.

Festival highlights include Sarah Connolly and Eugene Asti’s recital on the opening night (10th October) which will include Schubert’s gorgeous Frauenliebe und leben (‘A woman’s love and life’), Carolyn Sampson and Joseph Middleton‘s performance of a new work by Cheryl Frances-Hoad called Six Songs of Melmoth on 13th October, and Roderick Williams and Christopher Glynn’s recital of settings of Thomas Hardy by composers such as Holst, Ireland and Vaughan Williams on 16th October. Another draw to the festival is Ian Bostridge who is the Festival’s resident artist; Bostridge takes part in four events which includes two concerts (The West-Eastern Divan on 11th October and Bach and Britten on 14th) , an interview and a masterclass.
