Between Two Sounds

A multimedia event with music, discussion and a graphic novel on the life of Arvo Pärt.

This event takes place in the Auditorium of the Levine Building and is Co-hosted by the Oxford Comics Network

Joonas Sildre is a brilliant comic artist from Estonia. As well as authoring and illustrating many children’s books and teaching comic art, he spent five years researching, writing and drawing Kahe heli vahel (Between Two Sounds), a biographical graphic novel that imaginatively reveals Pärt’s musical and personal development from childhood up to 1980 when his family was forced to leave Estonia.

This session explores Joonas’s work, through discussion with the artist, and a presentation of images from Between Two Sounds, accompanied by pianist Lucie Tenet performing Pärt’s Für Alina and Partita.
