Fretwork: Take Five
“Fretwork, that Rolls-Royce among viol consorts” Janet Banks, The Strad, October 2025
Fretwork, the groundbreaking Viol* Consort, return to Oxford for ‘Take Five’, a brilliantly imaginative and stimulating programme that includes everything from the expected (Henry Purcell, Orlando Gibbons, J.S. Bach) to the very much not expected (Radiohead and Kate Bush).
A celebratory evening in the group’s 40th anniversary year, one not to be missed.
* A viol is a bowed stringed instrument, played on the leg.
This concert is supported by a grant from Continuo Foundation.
